What about your friends!

Friendship is something that is valuable and we shouldn't take lightly.  In this life that is so precious we often meet ordinary people, who become valuable people in our life, and we never actually realized how near and dear they would be to our heartsWhile talking to one of my longtime friends she was upset that one of her friends boyfriend accused her of something, and i believe she was more upset that she was already guilty before even being questioned.

True friendship in my opinion would be when someone speaks negatively against you whether its your boyfriend, or someone in the streets.  If we are as close as we are supposed to be you should be able to know me better than what rumors are.  A girlfriend of mine always told me "that if you want to keep your friends listen and don't speak" which i found to be true, sometime people want/don't want your opinions they actually just want someone they know to hear them out.  They usually know the situation they are in is screwed up and they don't need you to second that notion, they just want to know that as their friend that you listen and understand.

Now the best thing to do is Love your friends no matter their faults, Offer advice if you deem it necessary, Value who they truly are and Expect the best for everyone.  If we would just learn that no one is perfect, and that we all have flaws, that is when you sort out who your true friends are.

Challenging ourselves to see a better outcome...

Lately i've been reading about America having the largest obesity rate in the world.  So i started thinking to myself what can i do to decrease atleast 1% of this rate and i plan on challenging myself to atleast 20-30 min of working out atleast everyday.  When i lost my mother at the age of 62 it was from various health issues, and i don't want to leave my children behind because of my lack of taking care of myself.  So lately i've been trying to work out twice a day, so each day i plan on doing something whether it be riding a bike, walking, aerobics, low/high impact training.  I must fight to Live and not Die, so i challenge all of you to change the ratio one step at a time.

Guilty or Not Guilty...

At this point who cares, i've been watching the news as many of us have, and i know i'm not the only one who is in complete shock about this Casey Anthony trial, i said i wasn't going to post on this story, but i needed someone to give me some better understanding of how this trial took a left turn.  Now i will agree there isn't much "actual" evidence that states that she physically took her hands and killed her daughter but there is enough evidence to say that she was a part of this whole ordeal.  So my question is how do you allow someone to go FREE without serving any time for the death of this child, but yet it's as if the jury was saying..."You are a bad person for lying so i'm going to slap you on the hand this time, now don't you do it again" To be truthfully honest i'm not mad with her, i'm just a little pissed with the jury, did no one here anything in this case.  Casey never even had to get on the stand, and she's FREE.  All i can say is God be with her, and her family because the battle that she is going to endure at this moment and for the rest of her life, is going to be something.

SECURED CREDIT CARDS

Hey guys did you know another way to boost your credit score is to apply for a secured credit card, i know no one wants to get a credit card, but this is a great way to bring that score up.  Now that doesn't mean go out here and spend, spend, spend, but it's a better way to increase that score for whatever future investment you may have.  The reason i say investment is who wants to increase their score to go buy foolishness, reasons for increasing score would be for a future home, business or anything that will help you develop an investment.  Now this information was given to me by my lender when i asked what could be done to increase my credit score, so she advised me of this apply for  a secured credit card, and once i receive it only spend $10 and when i get my bill pay it off and keep doing it for 5 months and have someone to pull your credit to see how your credit score moves up.  So this is just a suggestion for anyone trying to improve their score.

So excited i finally found a product that works for my hair!

Okay guys i'm so excited to share this information, as most of you know i've been looking for the right type of products for my hair.  I was having a rough time, either the shampoo that i was using was drying my scalp out more or making it harder to come because it was super kinky, and i was frustrated!!!  Well i have found the solution that works for me, and i am so excited because if you could have saw me in the mirror in amazement you would want to try it to, so i am going to list the things that i just bought and used and i am in LOVE with it already.  I went to Sally's beauty supply for some nail products and saw these items and figured well they are on sale it can't hurt to try them.  I bought these both from Sally's beauty it's called Mixed silk and they do make your hair feel silky, and i have been using the Denman brush that i have been seeing everyone talk about, i LOVE< LOVE<LOVE that brush, it brushes those kinks right out and causes them to curl back up but with such ease!!!  So if you get a chance go out and get this product and try them!

Dear Thick n Kinky

Dear Thick and Kinky hair:

When i was born i was told how beautifully you graced my scalp, you were always thick, never thin.  You were easy to maintain because i was just a infant so all we had to do was wash n go.  As i grew up as a child i remember how hard it was to get you to manage so my mother put a little something on you to minimize your coarseness, and then you were called a "Curly Kit" you did so well for about 2 years, then i was going to high school and saw everyone else's hair i decided that i didn't want you to be a curly kit anymore, so i traded you for some "creamy crack" (CC) for short boy did i love that CC she was my new best friend, we stayed together for 16years, she was kind to me on good days and bad days, all i had to do was wash her sometimes or brush her down, or add a little gel for slickness, but she never let me down!

Then one day i started trying to take better care of myself because i had reached that 30 yr old mark, and every thing was changing, i started noticing everyone getting different hairstyles calling their new friend "Natural" there were short styles, long styles, and they all looked so healthy and beautiful, and i pondered the thought for a minute, then i lost it, and was like i would never do you like that so i kept maintaining, now honestly speaking i almost gave up on you CC like 3 times, then i started working out alot and CC was not holding up her part of the deal, i would go to the salon on Tuesday, then work out wed, Thur, Fri, by then you had given up on me, so i had to start making some decisions, so i did, and i did the BC oh how scared i was because CC had me fooled to believe that i couldn't survive with out her, and she was almost right, but i started researching products, salons, and simple things to do.

Now this road to meeting you Thick n Kinky wasn't easy because you let me down a couple of times too.  You defying me in so many ways, when i comb you, you break the comb, you didn't tell me i would have to moisturize you everyday, and sleep with a "silk" cap or bonnet on, i thought i could just time you up and go my merry way, but oh no, you had to prove to me that you were worth keeping.  You kept me spending more money than i cared too, but i did this all just to prove that i wanted you!  Now that you and i have been together for about 9 months now, i truly understand why you are so tough and hard to manage see i was fooled by CC to think that you would be just as easy as her to manage, but you are teaching me to embrace the beauty that i have, learn what things work for you, and take proper care of you and you will do just fine.  So to TnK i thank you for being a part of who i am today, and i embrace you with open arms!!!

Natural Hair Style

So this was my first time ever styling my hair for the first time, normally i go to a salon because i'm afraid that it won't turn out the way i envision it, well i co-washed my hair, and did a conditioner then used some coconut oil and other products to style it, and low and behold i was thoroughly amazed with my outcome, and to be honest i was so excited to see that i could actually do it. The back is flat twisted too so here is my first style that i did on my own it's not perfect but it was done by me!  Yayyy

WOBBLE BABY WOBBLE

<iframe title="YouTube video player" class="youtube-player" type="text/html" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/6IsvGaaLi60" frameborder="0" allowFullScreen></iframe>
Last year there was this new craze about a line dance called the "WOBBLE" which has become my all time favorite dance of all!  Seriously all you have to do is ask someone i know if that song came on i would stop what i was doing to break it down!  So when i was at home getting my exercise in i decided to put this song on and realized that this song is a good cardio workout, i mean it works the legs, butt, and even the abs depending on how you choose to do the dance, so i am submitting a YouTube video for all my peeps to see, but you don't have to use this video there are a thousand different ones on YouTube but this is the one that i originally learned the dance from and check on the guy in the vest, and the lady in black they are getting it!  I so love dancing, so if you have spare time today or are feeling a little blue, play this and get your GROOVE ON!!!  Have Fun!!!

Care and Maintenance of Natural Nails

I've been a Licensed Nail Tech for about 7yrs. now and i've worked in a couple of salons, but due to family and school I had to let that go for a while, but i still maintain from time to time, so today if you are looking for some really simple things to do to your nails i will list them below.

For manicures:
It is important to have a couple of things:

Manicure Bowl:
This is used to soak your nails

Cuticle Nipper
To remove any hangnails

Cuticle pusher
It's best to get the sticks because they are disposable and you don't have to worry about sanitizing them you can just throw them away when your done.

Cuticle Remover
This is to be applied around the cuticle area to help soften and loosen cuticle so that when you use the cuticle stick or pusher it will be easier to lift up and remove

Cuticle Oil
This is used to add oil to the cuticles and can be used in between manicures

Buffer / Polar Block
Buffers are used to leave a healthy glow on the nails
Blocks are used to buff out any ridges in the nail

Finger nail clipper
Used to clip away or shorten the nail to a size that is comfortable for you

Nail File
You should purchase a higher grit file one that isn't too coarse that it will cause ridges and splitting on the nails, so i chose a 240 grit nail file that will help shape natural nails or look for the words fine instead of med/coarse that's too rough for natural nails

Cut your nails to the desired length using your nail file, then shape the nails with your nail file from left to right bring it to the center, clean all dirt from underneath the nail, use your cuticle nipper to remove any hang nails you may have now get your manicure bowl of soapy water.  Put cuticle remover on one hand and let it soak for about 2-3 min, then take it out, use the cuticle pusher/stick(orangewood stick) to push the cuticle back and remove the cuticle on each nail, do the same on the next hand.  Now that you have done all of this take the polar block and buff each nail to remove any ridges in the nail, buff from the cuticle to the edge of the nail making sure to get the entire nail, then you can use the buffer to smooth the nail out.  Now apply cuticle oil on each nail making sure to massage it into the cuticles then go use some soap and water to wash your hands and remove any debris from the nail with a nail brush. Dry hands and now you are done with your manicure all you have to do now is polish! When polishing make sure that you always use it in this order base coat, polish, then top coat to seal in the polish!  After nails have dried apply a moisturizing lotion to the hands and your done!

All of these products can be found on Sally's Beauty where i usually purchase some of the above items, and if you purchase a Sally's card for $5 you can get the discounted prices on each item, the card is good for a year, and when you renew you are only renewing for $5.  Just some simple steps to do your manicure at home!  Hope this helps!

Am i becoming an online shopper!

So the last couple of days i have been ordering things online nothing major just little things here and there, hair products, uniforms for work and so on and so forth, but needless to say it has been pretty fun watching UPS & FedEx pull up to my door or leave a package at the door makes me almost feel like I'm RICH (lol) but i see why people order things online instead of going out from store to store to find something, the benefits of shopping online is one click, pay and the process begins.  Oh yeah and watching the truck pull up to the front door knowing the package is for little old me!  Thank you sir!  I'll see ya next time! So when someone ask what can Brown do for me everything!!

First Review Yayyy...Tshirtprinting.net

So I'm so super excited, i know you are saying it's just a T-shirt, but not to me, it's exciting that someone wants to hear my opinion on their product.  So i received my T-shirt from Tshirt printing, and i must say that this t-shirt is pretty durn comfortable and cool.  The difference between this shirt and other shirts that i have is it feels good and fits nicely.  The material of the shirt doesn't feel cheap and when i say that i mean the material doesn't feel like if i wash it the shirt will shrink.  We all like to find a cute, comfortable shirt that you can just slip on to go out in, lounge around the house or if you are just a tshirt type of guy or girl.  This is the place to go for all your needs.
I just ordered a t-shirt from my school and i chose a XL and when i got it the shirt fit like a small or more less a large, but the t-shirt i got from Tshirtprinting.net is an XL and it fits like one too, it's not to big and it's not to small it's very comfortable.  So Tshirtprinting.net you got my vote for a great shirt!

Enjoying the simple things in life

My 3 little people!
Charlotte had a winter storm on yesterday and i just got off of work, and of course the kids wanted to know when could they go outside so i told them let me get a couple of hours of sleep and if their dad didn't take them out first then i would when i got up.  So needless to say they couldn't wait for me to get up they were very slick about the whole thing, my oldest wakes me up to ask am i hungry because she will fix me something now i know her all to well, she had motive!  So while i'm munching on my cereal (lol) she preceeds with "ummm if i put on two shirts then that will be warm enough to go out right"?  I just stared at her because i know where she is about to go then she says "ma do you know what time you are getting up, ummmm IM UP NOW THANK YOU NIYA!!!

With that being said i got up to double layer myself in clothing so that i could go outside with them, getting my camera ready, and still mentally trying to wake up from working last night, but then i realized that i have 3 kids who love their mommy more than anything and you don't get these special moments often, so i better enjoy them while i can now.  We played, laughed and had a great time, but the one thing that touched my heart the most was when my 9 year old said "I had the best time ever today".  Wow!!!!  Life is so simple yet we take the simplest things for granted.  Enjoy your family to the fullest because when they are gone there is no return!!

Hot Chocolate Recipe

I just went over and visited a young lady by the name of Jewel's blog EatDrinkShopLove and i had to repost this recipe because it sounds so yummy for a time like this, right now in Charlotte, NC it is snowing continuously and in all my 3 years of being here it has never done this, so of course my kids are excited, so this is the time when all you want to do is sit by the window and watch the snow fall and drink some coffee, or hot chocolate so as i mentioned earlier i got this recipe from EatDrinkShopLove, and hope some of you can or will use it.  Drink up!

Hot Chocolate
Makes 2 servings
1/4 cup of Ghirardelli Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
1/4 cup of White Chocolate Chips
1 teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
1 teaspoon of Cinnamon
2 cups of Non-Fat Milk

In a small saucepan melt chocolate morsels in saucepan. Add two tablespoons of milk to pan and continually wisk chocolate and milk until chocolate creates a creamy mixture. Add rest of milk and cinnamon to pan. Bring stove to a low simmer while you whisk frequently. If want your hot chocolate to be more chocolatey, add a little bit more.

No more sitting in the cold!

"You betta go out there and heat that car up before you mess up the engine as my dad used to tell my brother" and what do you know i'm logging onto the internet and a question was asked Do cars really need to warm up first? on yahoo.  Well that's what i was always told, so now i guess i was wrong, so my poor husband was going out in the cold "warming up" the car, and standing outside for about 15 min because it was too cold in the car, but doesn't it seem like it's colder outside, oh well.

So this article on yahoo gives us 8 facts about warming up your car in the winter.  So now if you are running late for work or an appointment just give yourself about 30 seconds and you are good to go, but i've tried to do this before, jumping in the car and leaving, and it always gives me this hesitation like it wants to stall so i don't know if that works for a particular car or all cars in general, but i may just see how well it will work from now on.

When dealing with men you "MUST" be specific!

Well a girlfriend of mine just found out that a guy she was conversating with is actually dating someone, now of course when she told me this, the first thing i thought was did you ever ask him was he dating anyone at all.  She did say that she asked him did he have a girlfriend, and he responded no, but we all know all to well that with men you have to be specific because he was telling the truth that he didn't have a girlfriend, but he didn't care to expose that he was also dating.

What i have found out in my adult years about men is they have their own code:  If you don't ask i won't tell, or better yet if you don't ask i won't volunteer.

So my personal opinion is for women when you are out here dating or trying to find a perspective mate, always take the time to see what's really going on, when you ask if he has a girlfriend make sure he isn't dating either!  2010 ladies don't be deceived.

Bought some stuff just for me!!!

In my earlier post i talked about women making time for themselves, and doing things just for them.  Well today i took a plunge, and had to fight the temptation not to buy the kids anything.  So i went to TARGET and they had a fairly decent sale i saw some cute undies and bras and actually brought some for myself shoot 5 pairs for $15 was pretty good to me and then i decided that i was going to put back the purse i was going to get for my oldest daughter and stop looking for things for the baby girl and my son.

Hard job to do when you are so used to buying for everyone else, and putting yourself on the back burner.  I literally had to talk to my inner self to convince me not to buy anything for them, i know some of the employees had to wonder if i was crazy, i kept saying to myself  "if i don't buy them anything that doesn't make me a bad mama" lol amazingly i was so proud of myself i went to the counter purchased my stuff and walked right out of there with nothing in the bag for anyone but me.  I felt a little empowered today, but I'll be taking them to the mall on Saturday lol, well at least i didn't purchase them anything today.

Hi my name is Tasha and i'm lazy!!!

Definition for Lazy
- not wanting to work: unwilling to do any work or make an effort
- conducive to idleness: contributing to an unwillingness to work or make an effort
- slow: moving slowly

Well isn't that what they say in AA the first step is to admitting the truth.  Well i'm an admitter because i have been slacking lately on my aerobic workouts.  Althought i am an aerobic instructor i have been very lazy lately only because the gym that i have been teaching at closed the gym down due to the whole gym floor needing to be done over.

Just when i was getting into the groove of things, so the gym has been closed since december so let's just say i worked out only 3-4 times out of the month of December.  So i have decided to start looking at things that i like.  If anyone knows me they know that i get bored easily, so if i keep doing the same old thing repetively then i'm done!  No more for me because i'm bored.  With all that being said i have to really start deciding what can i do to get my exercise in, well i like Dancing so maybe i should find something that incorporates dance into aerobics because that is one thing that i am never bored with.  Who knows i guess time will definately tell if i don't get up and start moving my butt surely will.
Well this was just a first step for me admitting my problem, and knowing that i need to step it up...
Sincerely Tasha

The Golden opportunity of a second chance....

While on twitter i saw @afrobella tweet about give this man a job, and i saw on the video about this man who was homeless that had a great voice, i mean literally he had a radio personality voice...he reminds you of one of those behind the scenes voices that you never see but are always in awe of the voice....Well he was given a second chance and i was so happy for him, this man gave us his life story about his education, and how he got to this point of homelessness...When i watched him this morning on the todayshow.com i was so happy for him, even though i don't know him, but to see a situation that may be bad to us, turn to good, was overwhelming to me...I'm so happy that someone had the heart enough to say let's give this man a job, let's help him out of the rut that he was in...to his amazement someone did call him, and offered him multiple jobs, and a house, now tell me that this wouldn't make anybody want to cry...I've always believed that people should have a second chance when proven that they really want an opportunity to do better...Life is hard enough by itself, but so much better when someone recognizes who you truly are....God is a forgiver...so why can't we!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MShvN1ztSZA video of him being discovered!

Same man different name

So i finished the book so sad that i'm finished days later but i had to work and it was hard to pick it up in between.  But i loved this book i would highly recommend it to anyone.  From start to finish this book keeps you excited, when you read it, you start thinking to yourself there is someone that i know who has lived this life...or it may remind you of how you have been in your younger teenage days (lol) but author Kemisha Ebron did an excellent job, and anyone who is looking for a book about love and hardships this is the book, and it keeps your suspense level going.  This book will leave you wondering does love really exist for Trinity, but you will have to read it to see if Ms. Trinity finally find LOVE> I give this ***** stars.. You can now order it online at amazon.com..

Fathers and their importance...

"Father: a role model who gives the gifts of guidance and wisdom while learning how to stretch his ability to love beyond what he knew was possible"

I was on the phone with my girlfriend this morning just talking about everyday life, and raising our kids, and we came across the topic of the difference in how we were raised, our parents, and how we are doing today.  And funny as it may seem the roles in life have completely reversed, you see more wives working or making the bulk of the money, and the men just barely working or making ends meet.  Before I get off the subject what I was trying to figure out is what happened to the importance of being a father.  Sometimes I can't wrap my mind around someone not wanting to give your undivided attention and love to something so precious that you helped to create.  I'm always watching the way my kids act and wondered if they knew the difference of not having a parent in the home vs. a child who doesn't have a father figure in the home, but he is very active in their life.
I get frustrated with the lack of parenting from men because I really don't believe that they truly understand their importance in a child's life whether it be a male or female child it still is such a critical point.  Men sometimes (not all men) when going thru divorce or separation often separate themselves from the children also, so it makes me question the idea of were you a parent while in the home, or did you feel that your presence made you an active parent.  Children need to know and feel that they are loved, and if two people decide for their betterment that they cannot be together, then they should be able to continue to be a great father in their child's life.  But I haven't been seeing that lately, often I listen or talk to kids who are in the hospital, and you always see the mother and wonder where your dad is?  Does the mom have to carry the load at all times?  Even when the child is sick?  When I think of my own parents, and think about how my dad could have done things so much better than now, how some of my choices and decision because of them, could have been so much better...I don't know I guess I just get a ill frustrated with wanting men to take care of their responsibilities so that little girls won't go out here looking for love because they don't know what it is or what it is supposed to feel like, so the first guy that comes along and gives his definition of what love is, then they fall for them, or so that little boys will know how to love a woman, respect her, take care of her, and treat her like she needs to be treated.  Men I just want you to take time and understand your importance...because a child is not like a weed that can be picked and thrown away...They need and crave LOVE!

Taking Care of Me!!!

So i was thinking about doing this blog then i changed my mind, well actually i just started doing everything else, and forgot about it, until i saw a similar blog over at my girl http://momwifemedaily.blogspot.com/.  Women need to start feeling good about themselves because we always tend to everyone else's needs...I was watching my husband one day and realized that he puts so much time and effort into how he looks, and me i just make it simple...If i need to go to the grocery store, i just slip something on, but him he does the whole routine.  So then i realized a few things about being a women that i don't cater to myself enough, i'm so busy making sure that everyone else has, or needs, that the main person who needs is me!  It is important for me to start wearing makeup, whether it's a little blush, eyeliner, or something to bring out the extra beauty that is already there, dressing cute even when going to the grocery store, a woman should in my opinion always own a pair of heels it's funny how you feel different when you are dressed up, and in heels (and cute ones at that)...To me it is important to always look and feel your best, even if you don't feel up to it, this is something that i observed of my mother when she was sick, although she was tired, barely could walk, she wanted me to put her makeup on, and i guess it made her feel good....but i do know that when i put a lil blush or makeup on i feel totally CUTE!!!  So my suggestion to women today is put a lil makeup on, do your hair (lol), find a cute outfit, put on a pair of cute pumps and step out!!! This year is all about learning to be a better me!  So why not start with a lil makeup...
